How to calculate the percentage shielded
Lab tests usually show shielding in decibels (dB). The higher the dB number, the more signal is reduced. To convert dB into a percentage, this formula is used:
% blocked = (1 − 10^(−dB/20)) × 100
For example:
- 35 dB = 98.2% blocked
- 54 dB = 99.8% blocked
This means our fabric shields between 98.2% and 99.8% of radiation in the tested range (30 MHz – 10 GHz)
