To block magnetic and electric fields, you would need very heavy and rigid metals that cannot be worn comfortably as apparel. These fields generally stay close to the source too, so shielding is not always needed or recommended depending on distance and exposer from the source.

Your Golden Kocoon product cannot be tested using a cell phone.

Many customers try placing their phone inside the product and calling it to see if it rings. If the phone still rings, or the signal strength doesn’t drop, it may appear that the product is not working.

This is not a valid test.

Cell phone signal and connectivity do not measure radiofrequency (RF) exposure. Phones are designed to maintain connection with towers and will often still receive calls even when shielding from RF is present.

Golden Kocoon fabrics are designed to reduce RF radiation exposure, not to block phone connectivity. For example, our phone pouch is designed so your phone can still stay connected while reducing radiation exposure.

Some shielding fabrics can cut phone signal completely, but ours are not designed that way, and that does not mean the product is not working.

To properly test RF shielding, you must use a high-quality RF meter.

Our products are designed in Australia and ethically made in specialist textile facilities in China, under strict quality control standards.

Some customers notice a subtle scent when opening their product- this is due to the natural silver content in the shielding liner.

The smell is non-toxic and fades quickly after washing and airing out.

These are only cosmetic imperfections and do not affect the shielding performance of the fabric in any way.

Our cotton-based beanies, slouch beanie, hood and blankets use GOTS organic certified fabric, as confirmed by our fabric suppliers. You’ll find this noted in the individual product descriptions.

Our fabrics are certified by the manufacturers we partner with.

For example, the organic cotton outer layers are GOTS certified and our shielding fabrics are OEKO TEX certified for safety.

Golden Kocoon does not hold the certifications directly, as these are issued at the manufacturing level, but every material we use comes from certified sources.

We also work with an independent QC inspector who reports to us and we request to see the certification paperwork to confirm that the correct fabrics are being used in the manufacturing process.

Hand wash only, in cold water, using a natural, chemical-free detergent. Do not bleach. Dry in the shade to preserve the fabric's shielding effectiveness.

We recommend to only wash on a ‘need too basis’ as it will preserve the silver for a long time to come.

Over time and with frequent washing, silver fibres may naturally degrade. However, if washed gently and cared for properly, most users report their EMF protection products last for many seasons without any noticeable loss of performance.

With proper care, our Faraday fabric retains its shielding performance for a long period
of regular use. Silver fibres naturally wear over time, but we’ve found that most products continue to block EMFs effectively even after extended wear.
